At the Water's Edge by Sara Gruen

Once again, Sara Gruen has told a wonderful story of heartache and love, with an animal central to the tale - in this case, the Loch Ness Monster. The book takes spoiled rich kids Maddie, Ellis, and Hank from high-society Philadelphia to rural Scotland in the middle of World War II, on a whim, so Ellis can prove himself to his father. Maddie, Ellis's wife, goes along for the ride but soon begins to see Ellis for what he really is. There are some really great characters at the inn where they stay, and where Maddie starts to blossom. Between air raids, monster hunts, ghost sightings, and a Valentine's Day dance, the world as Maddie knows it is completely changed. I loved this book and hope to see it made into a movie!

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review - thank you!
